Simon Kushnir entered the jewellery world at a young age, working in the renowned Odessa Jewellery Workshop, under Russian master craftsmen. He was to learn the art of jewellery creation in the one region of Russia that kept the Faberge tradition alive.
Schooled in the use of enamelling, filigree work and different coloured golds, as well as the concepts of jewellery design, Simon soon created a name for himself. Moving to Italy to study the art and craft of Italian goldsmithing, he developed an eye for quality.
Settling in Melbourne, Simon found work as a specialised repair jeweller. To this day, his services are often sought for more intricate works. He also founded Simon Prestige Jewellery Pty Ltd and began designing his own pieces. By drawing from the knowledge gained overseas and the ability to gauge the Australian market, Simon’s reputation has grown and he has never looked back.
Today, with his ability for fine gold work and intricate design, he has produced a number of ranges in both contemporary and antique styles.
Individual designs have also been created and amongst his customers are local and international celebrities – including Cher for whom he hand-made a set of pearl and diamond earrings. As his reputation continues to grow, Simon has sourced his own diamonds and coloured gemstones, both for his own use and to meet wholesale demand.
You can browse through the stunning pieces at the highly esteemed Kozminsky’s in Melbourne, where his main stock is available for purchase. The Simon Prestige Jewellery range is also available in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. To find out more, contact Simon and his team at the studio.
